The Rhino Man is the unsung hero of the Rhino conservation effort – the field ranger who sacrifices his or her life every day to protect the rhino from extinction.
Global Conservation Corps have partnered with the video storytelling specialists at Friendly Human to create the “Rhino Man” film to highlight the critical role of their sacrifices, with the trailer being released on World Rhino Day.

As one of the field rangers explains in the video, “You must have the guts in order to stand in front of the bullet, because remember there will be a poacher and there will be a rhino, and you are the bullet proof for the rhino.”

“Their story will move you to help and it will leave you believing that there is hope in spite of tragedy. We wanted to capture every essence of what it means to be a Rhino Man and let the world see how they work selflessly to protect nature against greed,” said Daniel Roberts, CEO of Friendly Human.

Project Rhino KZN announced that South African Youth Rhino Ambassadors and the World Youth Wildlife Declaration are heading to Vietnam in October.

Five Youth Rhino Ambassadors have been selected to represent South Africa and carry an important appeal to Vietnamese citizens and Asian government leaders to urgently bring an end to the rhino poaching crisis.

This is the first time South African youth have been invited to visit Vietnam – internationally recognized as a key consumer country and hub for the sale of rhino horn – and participate in a government-led demand reduction campaign. They will be guests of Operation Game Change, a joint Vietnam/US government initiative aimed at ending wildlife crime in Vietnam, especially rhino horn trafficking.

Imire Rhino & Wildlife Conservation celebrates World Rhino Day on September 25  0

IVP-Logo-No-white-logo1

Imire Rhino & Wildlife Conservation will celebrate World Rhino Day on Friday, September 25.

Imire will once again celebrate World Rhino Day with the Hwedza community. These people are crucially assisting with the responsibility of the security of the wildlife in this part of the world, in particular the endangered rhino.

League soccer, netball and touch rugby championship finals draw the crowds and are always an exciting “grand finale” to the day. World Rhino Day has become an important highlight of the year for everyone, and this year they hope to draw an even bigger crowd. It is an opportunity to thank our community for their support and to celebrate that all here in Hwedza are guardians to a population of 7 black and white rhino.

This year the funding will be going towards soccer/netball kit and balls for the 28 rural soccer /netball league teams as well as the entertainment for World Rhino Day. We humbly ask the public once again to support this vital day in any way you are able. We are aware of the tough times everyone is going through. Any small donation would be so appreciated.
