Saint Louis Zoo Celebrates World Rhino day on September 19  0

Saint Louis Zoo will celebrate World Rhino Day on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at River’s Edge.

Activities will include:

  • Make a wish for rhinos and post it for all to see
  • Rhino biofacts to see and touch
  • Learn what it takes to be a “rhino scout” in Africa
  • Activity booklet, souvenir wristband and bookmark (while supplies last)
  • Talk to rhino keepers
  • Paintings made by the Zoo’s rhinos

Guests can groove to a set from the Ray Tones Band, enjoy special Keeper Talks, and hear about work to save rhinos around the world from our conservation partners. Crafts, face painting, and activities will inspire you and your family to discover more about the remarkable rhinoceros.

World Rhino Day 2015 tours at Potter Park Zoo  0

Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, Michigan will offer special tours and a behind-the-scenes look at their black rhino exhibit on September 20.

Zookeepers will guide guests into the exhibit holding area and show the work that goes into the care and preservation of these amazing animals. Lucky guests might even get a chance to meet one of these rare and endangered rhinos up close!

There will also be rhino informational tables and activities for the kids from 10:30a-4p.

Since 2009, the Minnesota Zoo has partnered with a Namibian conservation organization, Save the Rhino Trust, to help protect and expand this unique wild rhino population.

Detroit Zoo will celebrate World Rhino Day 2014 on Sunday, September 21.

Enrichment, Keeper talks and biofacts will be given at 11:00AM, Noon, 1:00PM, 2:00PM and 3:00PM as part of the celebration. Detroit Zoo is home to Jasiri and Tamba, a handsome pair of male Southern White Rhinoceroses. Come out and enjoy watching this playful pair celebrate their big day!

Elmwood Park Zoo Celebrates Wolrd Rhino 2014 with Rhino Walk ‘N Ride  0

Elmwood Park Zoo will celebrate World Rhino Day on Sunday, September 21.

Elmwood Park Zoo’s AAZK chapter will host a “Rhino Walk ‘N Ride” event beginning at 3:00 PM. The event will feature both a 5K walk and a bike ride to Manayunk, with all proceeds benefitting rhinocerous conservation.

Enjoy a leisurely 5K walk around the Zoo at 3pm, with raffles and items to purchase. At 6:00 PM, bike riders will depart from EPZ along the Schuykill River Trail to Bourbon Blue on Main Street in Manayunk. There, the celebration will continue and a portion of the night’s checks will go to support rhinos!

All proceeds support Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, International Rhino Foundation, and Action for Cheetahs in Kenya.

Lowry Park Zoo promises an educational weekend with its Southern White and Greater One Horned Rhino exhibits. Visitors will have an opportunity to meet the Rhino Keepers. There will be plenty of activities for kids and educational displays about the five rhino species.
